Dr. Seuss Week

We will celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with a focus one of his books and a corresponding dress-up day beginning this Monday.

Monday – The Cat in the Hat – Wear a hat!

Tuesday – Oh, the Places You’ll Go – Wear sweat/athletic pants to be comfortable for our read-a-thon!

Wednesday – Fox in Socks – Wear crazy socks!

Thursday – The Sleep Book – Wear your favorite pajamas!

Friday – Green Eggs and Ham – Wear green, and green eggs and ham will be served for breakfast!

Our current 2-week contract will be due on Friday, March 2nd.  We won’t start another contract the next week.  Instead, those students who have met their quarter goals will get to be on a reading vacation and read anything they want for the week.  We will celebrate those who met their quarter goals with an AR party on Wednesday the 7th.

We will continue our measurement unit by learning about feet, yards, miles, centimeters, meters, and kilometers.  We will be ready to test on measurements of length and temperature the following week.

Also, please keep your student working on those basic multiplication facts!  We are planning to have our banana split party on March 23rd, and we want everyone to earn all their toppings and the mystery prize!

Spelling Bee

Next week I will send home a copy of the spelling bee word list.  During the week of March 19th, our class will have a spelling bee to determine which 3 students will compete in our grade-level bee.  On March 23, three contestants from all 5 classrooms will compete, and the top 3 spellers will earn the opportunity to represent Clever at the SWCL bee in May.
